The Concho Valley year

We organise the work by the calendar rather than by service, because out here the calendar decides everything. This is what we are doing each month and what is worth booking.

  • JanuaryHeating calls. Pipe and coil checks after a freeze.
  • FebruaryQuiet. The best month of the year to plan a replacement.
  • MarchCooling checks begin. Coils cleaned before the dust arrives.
  • AprilCooling service in full. Book now, not in June.
  • MayFirst hot weeks. Duct and airflow work.
  • JunePeak. Breakdowns lead. Service slots are tight.
  • JulyPeak. Condensers loaded with dust and cottonwood.
  • AugustPeak. Sun load on west-facing rooms at its worst.
  • SeptemberStill hot. Post-season checks start late in the month.
  • OctoberHeating checks. Flues, burners and unit heaters.
  • NovemberHeating service in full, before the first hard night.
  • DecemberFreeze readiness. Quiet enough to do it properly.
San Angelo · Concho Valley

Out here, August is the whole argument

Cooling and heating for houses and working buildings across San Angelo — sized and serviced for a climate where the equipment gets tested every single afternoon for four months.

The tool

Which side of the house is the sun on right now?

The rooms people complain about here are almost always on the west side, and they are almost always fine until four in the afternoon. That is not an equipment fault — it is the sun arriving at a wall with glass in it.

Drag the hour and the diagram shows which elevation is taking the load, with what actually helps for each one. Most of it costs nothing.

Houses and working buildings, on the same calendar

Residential

Houses across San Angelo, Grape Creek and Wall. Cooling that has to survive August and heating that has to survive one bad week.

  • No-cool calls, with the common parts carried
  • Annual cooling and heating checks, written up
  • Attic duct sealing and airflow measurement
  • Replacement sized from the house, ducts included
  • West-room complaints taken seriously rather than dismissed

Commercial

Offices, clinics, shops, workshops and light industrial along the highways, on planned schedules with a record per unit.

  • Rooftop packaged units and splits
  • Make-up air and building pressure
  • Unit heaters checked in October, not January
  • Replacement planning across a whole site
  • Schedules matched to the hours you open
How we work

Four habits

  • Measure first

Temperatures, pressures, airflow and electrical draw. In a climate this hard, a guess costs somebody a compressor.

  • Price in writing

Before the work, including what happens if we open something and find more. You decide at that point.

  • Book the season, not the emergency

Cooling checks in March and April. Heating checks in October. A June breakdown is usually an April conversation somebody skipped.

  • Say when to wait

Plenty of visits end with a coil clean and a filter. We would rather tell you that than sell you a system.

Questions

Before you call

One room is unbearable after lunch. Is the system too small?

Usually not. Late sun through west glass arrives exactly when the building has been absorbing heat all day, and the fix is normally shade, balancing and a return path rather than capacity. The sun path page walks through it.

When should I book a cooling check?

March or April. Booked then it is a service visit with the coil cleaned before the season loads it; booked in July it is an emergency and so is everybody else's.

Why does the condenser need cleaning so often here?

Dust and seed. An outdoor coil packed with either cannot reject heat, so the system runs longer, costs more and works harder for the same result. It is the single most common thing we find in summer.

Do you carry parts?

Common ones — capacitors, contactors, float switches, igniters, flame sensors and filters. Anything else is ordered and you get a timescale rather than an open question.

Do you work on commercial buildings?

Yes, and it is a real part of the business. Planned schedules with a written record per unit, rooftop units, make-up air and unit heaters.

How far out do you go?

San Angelo, Grape Creek, Wall, Christoval, Miles, Veribest and Carlsbad. The areas page is honest about when somebody closer would serve you better.
